Impulsive Buyer or Self-indulgence

“impulsive means spontaneous” while “self-indulgence is excessive or unrestrained gratification of one’s own appetites, desires, or whims“. ah, yun pala yon..

i myself is a victim of this personality, i am one of those few people who would indulge themselves in buying things for self satisfaction but then afterwards, the interest will suddenly fade away. dati nung nasa pinas ako, i would buy things just because I LIKE THEM and not because I NEED THEM… ito rin ang dahilan kung bakit sa loob ng ilang taong paghahanap-buhay sa bansang sinilangan ay wala man lang akong naipon… pero in fairness, nakabili naman ako ng motorcycle, desktop, at nakailang palit din ako ng mobile phone, hehehe…  but the main reason is, tumutulong kasi ako sa family ko financially, (ehem!)…

analysis:
hindi ko rin alam kung bakit.. dahil na rin siguro hindi ko nakuha lahat ng gusto ko noong bata pa ako… maybe because i was not fortunate enough to have expensive toys when i was still a young cute boy (take note ha!, a young cute boy)… my parents do not have the capacity to provide me with things like what our rich neighbors would provide for their kids.. ang pinakamahal na laruan ko nung bata pa ako ay yung mga G.I. Joe at matchbox cars (kapag tiningnan mo sa ilalim nakalagay MADE IN MACAU), samantalang yung mga kalaro ko, naka die-cast na transformers, voltes v at voltron, remote control cars, game and watch (bago yung psp ito ang uso nung bata pa ako), atari at family computer (mga ninuno ng ps3 at xbox 360), yung isang kapitbahay namin may motorbike na pambata (yung kinakargahan ng gasolina), hehehe… in short, i was deprieved… huhuhuhu.. penge ngang panyo, hehehe.. i am not saying that we were destitutes but i am saying that we were not that rich to buy all those expensive stuffs.. but i dont have any regrets with my family because of this shortfall… kaya nung nagkaroon ako ng pagkakataon makapaghanapbuhay at makahawak ng sarili kong pera, binibili ko na ang mga bagay na gusto ko… for self satisfaction.. but of course, it should be within my means and should not affect my financial obligations to my family as well..

but now i have learned my lessons, i still suffer from this indulgence occasionally but before i grab that $$$ worth of item, i make sure that i have done my homework by researching the necessary facts and information. i try to answer a few questions before visiting the store to spoil my money…

1> What are the benefits of buying this stuff?
parang gusto kong bumili ng laptop pero bakit nga ba ako bibili ng laptop? well, wala kasi akong laptop, kailangan ko ng magagamit kapag nag-self study ako sa bahay at para makapag-surf sa internet.. see, now it has a purpose..

2> Is it worth the price?
hmmm.. check ko muna ang reviews from the internet para malaman ko kung sulit ang price para sa model ng laptop na gusto ko.. reviews from forums on brand name, durability, flexibility, specifications and upgrades are some of the things i check in the internet..

3> Will it be utilized to its maximum performance?
it would take time bago ako mag-upgrade ng laptop kasi high-end naman ang nabili ko… after office hours at tambay sa bahay, ano ang pwede kong gawin sa laptop ko? mag-games at manood ng movies, mag-surf sa internet, mag-check ng mga e-mails, magchat…

so the next time you pass by a store and the urge fills up your braindead head, think of this blog… these are just some tips in case you fall prey to this kind of personality. anyway, i dont want to be your financial adviser, it will always be your choice and will still depend on your self-control.

happy shopping!!!

cguro we have to go back to the basic motto nating mga humans ( we dont have satisfaction ).. per se it is but im not saying na hindi ito natatapos..sometimes the things that we are deprived of will make us believe that having them fill our desires will inevitably end what we want…it will simply relieved the things we dont have or own before and will eventually evolve into something of a greater want..kaya nga contentment is very difficult…but….as we grow older and wiser, the things we want to have will lose its value kasi nag iiba na ang priorities natin..but i wont consider it a vice if you’re not hurting others…its more of reprocessing our experiences into something more meaningful at a certain moment, huli na nga lang before you realized that pag nalustay na pera mo..but you will learn din nman after a bitter bout with reality..
