Back From Beijing

hello peeps.. i am back in singapore, back at work again.. back to the usual work till u drop kind of environment… i just came back from an 8 day vacation trip in beijing (nov 8-15)… it is enjoyable yet so tiring… no vacation is perfect i guess.. stayed in a 5-start hotel and visited 3 cities, shopping centers, historic places and temples including the great wall and had watched several chinese theater shows and stage plays.. i am a bit busy at work right now so i will not be able to share my experiences for the entire trip… but dont worry, i will try to squeeze in some time in writing my adventures and posting some photos in historic beijing…

for starters, let me share my first day.
we left singapore changi T1 airport via Air China at just past midnight on 8th nov… the plane is a bit old.. lavatory shows marks and stains of old age… 6 hours after just before 7AM, we landed in beijing T3 airport.. this airport is new and huge (they may have built it for the beijing olympics).. we need to take a train to reach the other end of the airport where we will collect our luggages… outside temperature is around 6 degrees celsius so we need to gear up for the cold weather, wear a thermal jacket, gloves and bonnet.. after assembling the tour group and picking up another 8 people in beijing T1 airport, we headed to our first stop, breakfast at a chinese restaurant.. my 3 friends and I are the only filipino tourists in the group.. we shared a table with 7 other singaporean chinese tourists… there are a total of 4 tables.. 10 persons for 3 tables and 11 in our table… 41 tourists all in all.. these will be the set up for the entire duration of the tour… they served 12 course meals for each table.. food is good for a hungry beast like me… anyway, i have no choice but to eat, right? hahaha.. i need to eat to have some energy for the day.. after the feast of chinese cuisine, off we go to summer palace, a resort for the empress during summer in beijing… on my way out my attention was caught by this sign, so i stopped for a while and took a picture…

i will continue my day 1 on my next post.. work work work… hehehehe.. :o)

Gloomy Friday

Today is Friday and It is a gloomy day… it is raining outside and a bit cold inside the office… though my project schedule will only start next Tuesday, I already started exploring the application, browsing through the program codes, reading documents and trying to assimilate myself with Unix and Oracle… I have been doing these for the past 5 days and I can say that I can beat the deadline (I hope so..) based on my assessment of the complexity of the project… i need to finish 2 of the 3 enhancements before i leave for Beijing on November 8..

Weekend is fast approaching, and it is a long weekend… Deepavali will be celebrated by our Hindu brothers on Monday, so it will be a holiday… 3 days of R and R, Rest and Recreation.. later tonight, my buddies and I will unwind on our regular pub.. tomorrow is saturday and is scheduled for poker session, however, it will be cancelled due to the availability of the players.. Sunday evening, Parokya ni Edgar will have a show in Arena Bar, ticket price is 50 SGD… perfect timing since it is a no-work-day the next morning… Office colleagues are inviting me but i have not made up my mind.. yet.. it will depend on my mood come Sunday morning…

well, that wraps up my plans for weekend.. whatever comes up i hope it will be an enjoyable, relaxing and stress free weekend..

sa mga kainuman ko, kita kits na lang mamaya.. :o)

Happy long weekend to all!

Michael seeks revenge for Sara’s death and finds out that she is alive and that the head given to Lincoln was someone else’s. Michael also learns the truth about Whistler, that he has secretly been working alongside Mahone to take down the Company. Whistler’s life is taken shortly after this by a Company Operative. It is learned that the inmates rioted at Sona and Bellick, T-Bag and Sucre escaped during the chaos. Donald Self (Michael Rapaport), a Department of Homeland Security agent, recruits Michael and Lincoln as well as Sucre, Bellick (Wade Williams) and Mahone for their help to bring down the Company in exchange for their freedom. Also joining the group are Sara, who escaped from Gretchen which resulted in Gretchen’s lie about her death, and Roland (James Hiroyuki Liao), a hacker who was assigned to help them after getting arrested for identity theft. Together, they devise a plan to retrieve data from the Company that will help to destroy the Company. In the meantime, Wyatt (Cress Williams), an agent from the Company, attempts to track Michael and Lincoln down and T-Bag heads North to the US to settle his score with Michael.

Some of the cast is in Las Vegas shooting at Planet Hollywood. The cast that is there are Linc, Sara, Sucre, and Roland. These are for scenes for Episode 4.07. The rest of the cast is still in LA shooting Episode 4.08. In Episode 7, the weathly gambler that the A-Team is targeting for his Scylla card enjoys “fooling around with Latin men”, despite being married. The team asks Sucre to step up and he grudgingly plays along. It turns out that the man wants Sucre to satisfy his hot wife, because he is impotent. Action takes place at a Vegas casino. Michael is experiencing nosebleeds in episode 8 and the gang is worried that something is seriously wrong with him. The_Man reports: “I don’t want to give too much away about that because it is an interesting storyline, but you will see bits of it throughout some of the episodes and get more of an explanation in episode 4×07″. It seems that Gretchen and T-Bag will be getting some kind of immunity, given by Don, in episode 8.  Episode 4×08 will have a flashback to Sara’s Panamanian torture cell. She is given a key by one of the guards, who is later shot and killed by Gretchen. Sara has a flashback while working on Sucre, who has been shot. Manny Pacqiuao in Politics, A Big No-No!

Today’s headline about my boxing idol is a bit disturbing.. Manny Pacquiao announces that after his retirement on August next year (2009), he will enter the dirty world of politics.. geez.. so pathetic.. He made this announcement after being sworn in as member of the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino or KAMPI, an administration party chaired by Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno…

For my part, I believe that he should have concentrated in his boxing career, save more money and invest on a new business after his retirement… These blood sucking politicians should not use his fame and hard earned dollars to attract the masses for their own personal interests…

Pareng Manny, think not just once, but more than twice about this dream of yours.. kung gusto mo talagang makatulong sa mga kababayan natin, why not put up a business and hire local pinoys as workers, setup a charitable institution, finance the schooling of our less fortunate but bright students… from these good deeds they will remember you not just as a boxing icon but as a hero in their hearts… malay mo kilalanin kang bayani at ilagay ang iyong mukha kapalit ni Ninoy sa 500 peso bill… :o)

At para naman sa mga minamahal at pinagpipitagang politiko ng aming bansa, please lang, dont ride on the popularity of Manny, kapag nawala ang bango at ganda niya ay sigurado akong iiwan niyo rin yan.. mga style ninyo bulok!!!

Go Manny!!! Prove to them na iba ka sa kanila…

Goodbye Beijing, See You Soon London

The 2008 Beijing Olympics closed its curtains last Sunday, 24th of August, ending the 16-day event with an extravagant show of lights and acrobatic performances.. The crowd was serenaded by a duet performance by Tenor Placido Domingo and Chinese Soprano Song Zuying, though its hard for me to understand what they are singing, I still appreciate their high range voices…

“Through these Games, the world learned more about China and China learned from the rest of the world”, says International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge in his closing speech.. “These were truly exceptional Games.” I think I will agree, since this was only my first time to focus my attention in the olympics… I actually learned alot… Thanks to the power of the internet…

The main highlights of this olympics are American Michael Phelps who won 8 golds in swimming and broke 7 world records and 1 olympic record and Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt with 3 golds and breaking all 3 world records as well.. China led the medal tally with 51 gold medals followed by U.S. with 39, Russia winning 23 and Great Britain with 19…

London who will host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games (officially known as the Games of the XXX Olympiad) was given an 8 minute presentation in the closing ceremony with performances from Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and British singing sensation Leona Lewis and an appearance by Football icon David Beckham who kicked a ball into a crowd of onlookers… I wonder how much they paid this guy just to appear in the closing ceremony? hmmm…

So I guess its time to say goodbye and congratulations to Beijing for a job well done.. And off to London, the first city to officially host the modern Olympic Games three times (previously in 1908 and 1948) may you give the world a more lavish experience which we expect to be better than the recently concluded Beijing Olympics… we will patiently wait and watch as you prepare for this historic event… Goodluck and see you soon London in 2012…

Professional Swindlers Using OFWs as Bait

I just want to share an email I received about a new modus operandi targeting families of OFWs in the Philippines. Pls read and pass on to your family and friends. Tell them to verify the authenticity of the story before engaging in any transaction with someone they do not know especially if it involves money.

GUYS, PAKI-FORWARD NAMAN PO!

My brother is just too shy to tell anyone
but this actually happened to him yesterday, 02 August 2008 .
My brother is working in Dubai as an
Architect and his wife and 3 sons are staying in Aparri, Cagayan Valley
where they are renting a house. Just in the morning, my brother is still in
constant communication with my sister-in-law through texting (SMS).
However, just a few hours later, after
lunch, somebody called my sister-in-law through their landline claiming that
he is Ambassador Yap and that something has happened to my brother. That he
was involved in an incident and that he had accidentally killed someone. The
Embassy had already done their part in helping my brother by keeping him in
a safe place. They are asking her help to right away transfer a certain
amount in a bank account so that they can immediately process his papers and
that my brother can immediately be sent home. My sister–in-law, who was
already at the verge of nervous breakdown, immediately produced P19,000 to
be sent to that bank account. She was warned not to tell my other brothers
and sisters so that there will be no leakage of what they are planning to do
(sending my brother back to Philippines via the back door). Only after
sending the money that my sister-in-law came into her senses, after which
she called my brother in Dubai . She found out too late that she was just
been conned by these professional swindlers. She tried to stop the transfer
of money but it was already withdrawn.
These people who were pretending to be the
Ambassador knew so many details about my sister-in-law. They knew her cell
no., the details about my brother working in Dubai , and also about my
brothers and sisters.
Let this be a warning to all OFW’s. These
people will give bad news of death, accident, possibility of imprisonment,
and other worst scenarios so as to easily swindle your loved ones. Please
warn them not to easily fall to these deceptions by doing the following
(please feel free to add anything that may help):
1. Remain calm. These people will try
to rush you so that you cannot think properly.
2. Ask them to call again so that you
can prepare the amount. Try to record the Account No., don’t memorize.
3. If you have been warned not to call
the OFW’s cellphone because it is in the possession of the police, at least
call his friends, and other relatives that may know about him.
4. Don’t act immediately (send money).
Even if you will consume another 10 minutes trying to figure out what to do.
5. Whatever you do, don’t meet with
them.
I really felt sorry for my brother and
sister-in-law. May this serve as a warning to all OFW’s so that swindlers
like these will not prosper.
Please forward to all fellow OFW’s.
Thank you.

1st Silver for Singapore

China dominated the women’s team competition against Singapore to win the gold medal in yesterday’s table tennis finals match. The Singapore team made up of three former Chinese nationals settled for the silver medal and will receive about half-million dollars as bonus for their accomplishment. Had they won the gold they would have been richer by 1 million. (Gee! that’s a lot of money…) The silver will be Singapore’s first medal won since 1960. (Enough reason for this country to celebrate, hehehe…)

Anyway, congratulations to Team Singapore.. May you continue to strive and work harder for the next gold medal in the next olympics… keep it up!

And to my beloved motherland which has no medals yet for this olympics as of this writing, better luck next time… try to eat more noodles than rice… hehehe…. :o)

Earn Money While Surfing the Net

Some of you may not know but there is a way to earn money while surfing the net and the only effort you need to do is search and search… This is different from the annoying spam mail you may have received in the past which always say that a certain software company is monitoring the mail and will eventually pay the sender if he or she sends the same mail to his/her friends.. duh! do u actually believe that? well, what this service is offering is a bit more convincing and straight forward since the only thing you need to do to earn money is by using their search engine (which is actually using yahoo search engine) and make a search for anything.. yah, thats it.. for every search you make, they will pay an equivalent amount based on the number of searches you make for the day… as simple as that.. you just need to follow 2 simple steps.

  1. Register with your name, country and e-mail address
  2. Make it your homepage

You will see your earnings for the day only after each business day… You can even forward it to your friends and if they register under your account, you will earn a certain percentage from their earnings as well… sounds tempting, right?

You maybe wondering if I already earned anything from this service? As of this writing, I have 12.03 pounds in my account.. yes, it is in british pounds, and you need to earn a minimum of 20.00 pounds before they can actually pay you… for me, I started last June 30 and I only do my searching during my free time…. but if you have plenty of time to spare then this is the best way to spend it.. a good money making habit…

If ever I receive my first pay check for this service, I will update my blog and write a testimonial about it… so keep visiting my site for the latest updates.. :o)

So what are you waiting for? Click me and register… then start searching those magic words you use in scrabble and boggles.. there is no harm in trying.. at least the efforts can be converted into cash… hehehe…

happy searching! :o)
